The York Fair is the first and oldest fair in the nation. It was was established in 1765, 11 years before America's formation. The Fair will be held from September 7-16.

I lived in Carlisle, Pennsylvania from 1967 to 1984, not far from York, where the Continental Congress met in 1777-78. After seven years in Philadelphia, those two towns and others like them opened for me a new window on the state.
